Crafts

Materials:
2 Frames, one with screen and one without
Scrap paper (greeting cards, newspaper, fliers, etc.)
Blender of food processor
Warm water
Large Basin
J-Clothes and dish towels
Newspapers for drying
Plastic bag

Shred the paper into strips and put in the blender or food processor with warm water.  Be sure you have enough water that the blender doesn't have to work too hard.  You want your paper pulp the consistency of a milkshake.

Once your paper pulp is ready, fill your basin with 6" of water.  Start by adding 2-3 cups of pulp to the basin and stir around.  You need enough pulp added to the water so that when you put your screen in, a solid layer will settle on the screen.

Place your 2 frames together with the screen side in the middle.  Stir around the water and dip the the two frames into the basin with the screened frame on the bottom.  Let the frames sit in the bottom of the basin so that a cloud of paper can collect above the frames.  Once a good cloud is above your frames, slowly raise them so that the screen catches a layer of pulp.

Place the frames down on several layers of newspaper to absorb water.  Using wadded up plastic bag, gently press down on the screen squeezing out the water.  Once you do this over the whole screen, gently remove the top frame.  Lay newspaper  over the screen, place your hand on top and flip the screened frame over so that your paper is laying on top of the newspaper.  Use your plastic bag again to press on the backside of the screen to release the paper.  You can use the J-cloths to press down on the paper to absorb more water.  Lift the screen off your newly formed sheet of paper.  It will need 24 hrs to dry.
